Welcome to Partners in Advocacy (PiA) Dundee. We offer independent advocacy across Dundee to children and young people who are aged 21 and under.
PiA in Dundee welcomes referrals for all children and young people who are unable to act for themselves, or have no independent person to act for them. Particular priority is however given to children and young people with:
- Learning disabilities
- Mental health issues
- Transition issues
- Isolation issues
- Communication issues or
- Issues as a result of being a young parent.
PiA is also responsible for providing independent advocacy for all children and young people who have been detained in Dundee or who are at risk of being affected by the Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act.
We offer individual (1:1) advocacy which is inclusive, free of cost, confidential and most importantly led by the young person’s instruction. We also support those who may not be able to instruct an advocate or who have been judged to lack the mental capacity to engage in a discussion relating to their wishes for the future. This is known as non-instructed advocacy.
Making a referral into the service is simple – just pick up the phone and call 01382 217186 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also complete our Request for advocacy support form and email it. You will then be contacted for more information.
We’re open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with a 24 hour answering machine.
